Working with our friends at TOA Pacific, we are bringing to life a project to connect our older adults to youth - addressing isolation and increasing inter-generational knowledge transfer.​

Matua are treasures that hold knowledge and wisdom - and by connecting our young people to them, there is a great chance of strengthening each other. We are hopeful our pilot with TOA Pacific will lead onto other opportunities to share our programme in other spaces.

The Matua ma Talavou Project or “MMT” aimed to bring together two generations, young people (Talavou) and older adults (Matua) of the Pasifika Community. MMT is a partnership between Village Collective and TOA Pacific. The aim of MMT was to develop an approach that addressed loneliness experienced by Pacific Talavou and Matua. The product of this was the connection and passing of knowledge and traditions through native language and cultural customs.
